A vibrant Gypsy ensemble that has earned a reputation which has put them at the top of many festival invitation lists all over Europe.

Saturday 12 June

Gypsy Fever & Australian band Vardos

Gypsy Fever is a six-piece, Gypsy band from West London. Fusing their Balkan, Anglo-Saxon and Transylvanian heritage, they draw inspiration from diverse musical backgrounds.

Vardos are driven by Alana's wild violin and chased by accordion and double bass. Vardos play Gypsy and traditional music learnt from Roma (Gypsy) musicians during their travels in Eastern Europe.

Documentary: Gypsy Caravan - When the Road Bends

"You cannot walk straight when the road bends" Romani proverb

A look into Romani culture and Gypsies from around the globe as five famous Romani groups tour the USA. The film visits their families in Spain, India, Macedonia and Romania.

Latcho Drom by Tony Gatlif (1993)

Film introduced by Garth Cartwright

The film takes the viewer on a journey west, from India to Spain, with stops along the way.Garth Cartwright introduces the film which was one of the main influences on his writing and travels.

History Talk

Donald Kenrick, Jake Bowers and Marc Willers (+ Tony Benn TBC)

Donald Kenrick is Vice-President of the Gypsy Council and author of The Romani World: A Historical Dictionary of the Gypsies. Jake Bowers calls himself a modern Gypsy and is editor of Travellers’ Times. Marc Willers is the co-editor and co-author of a book entitled Gypsy and Traveller Law. Marc is also the editor of the Council of Europe's handbook for lawyers defending Roma and Travellers.

Paul Polansky

Poetry readings and film from Kosovo refugee camps PLUS Romany Diamonds - Three generations of Romany musicians

Paul Polansky is an American author and activist working for the rights of the Roma people (also called Gypsies). Today he heads the Kosovo Roma Refugee Foundation (KRRF), an NGO working with the afflicted residents of the UN Refugee Camps in North Kosovo. All proceeds from his evening will be donated to the children of Mitrovica Refugee Camps, Kosovo. toxicwastekills.com

Romany Diamonds - Fast and furious Gypsy jazz band comprised of three generations of Gypsy musicians who bring an authentic atmosphere to West London.

Aven Romale/Viktor Obsust

Aven Romale is a collective of finest Gypsy and jazz musicians formed and run by Viktor Obsust who also plays the bass with many other groups.

Saturday 26 June

Manooka

Monooka is a singer, song writer, actress, poet, puppeteer animation filmmaker. Tonight she will be singing for us traditional music from around Romania accompanied by Zac Gvirtzman on accordion, Dave Shulman on clarinet and Viktor Obsust on double bass.

Sunday 27 June

Zingaros + Secret World of Trotting - A film by Ioana and Huw

Zingaros (all the way from Argentina - this is their first London gig) This elaborate fusion of Slavonic Gypsy music, tango flavour, hot club nuances, and contemporary chords, opens up inexhaustible horizons to be explored.

5th - 27 June

Passing Places Exhibition

Passing Places started as an exhibition and series of events. The exhibition is now touring the UK. The focus is on Gypsy-Traveller history, culture, lifestyles and traditions.
