Saturday 29 May

Author Miriam Wakerly has a book-signing lined up in Bracknell's Waterstone's. She will be talking about, and signing copies of her new book "No Gypsies Served" a sequel/prequel to "Gypsies Stop tHere".

It continues her the exploration of relations between Gypsies and non-Gypsies, including Irish Travellers. Fiction fuses with fact. A romantic element and humour hold together various storylines to the end.

4 - 5 June

Epsom Derby

One of the biggest horse racing events in Britain with a long Gypsy history and big Gypsy attendance. There is evidence that Gypsies lived in the woodland on Epsom Downs in the early 1500s. The day festival of horse racing dates back to n1780. Head past the grandstand and racetrack to see stalls, funfair and the Gypsy and Traveller community at play.

Saturday 12 June

Sussex Gypsy Heritage Day

Sussex Gypsy and Traveller communities are coming together with their local police force to celebrate their heritage. Featuring live music from across Europe, wagons, campfires and displays and films, the day will take over a community centre and park in the heart of Brighton.

Gypsy Day: Celebrating Gypsy Life in Surrey

Celebrating Surrey

This awesome arts festival is taking place over the last weekend in June. 20,000 visitors are expected to watch over 2,000 performers.

Atchin Tan in Surrey

The festival is all about Celebrating the diverse and vibrant communities in Surrey and to celebrate the talent of Surrey's (and Surrey borders) Traveller and Gypsy Community there is scheduled a block of time called "The Atchin Tan" between 1:00 and 2:00pm on Saturday 26 June. Celebrating in Guildford

Guildford Borough Council have organised a celebration day.

  • Prize-giving
  • Storytelling by Hilda Brazil
  • Displays
  • Music

The Mayor of Guildford will be opening the event and also undertaking a prize-giving for the best poster of family heritage. We have scrap books that the local Gypsy community have made with local schools. Traveller Education are making displays and there will be music taster sessions for the children, storytelling by Hilda Brazil and much, much more.
