Wales Event
Whilst it's true that Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month is predominantly an English event due to the way it is funded that hasn't stopped others getting involved. We're very pleased to promote and support this event in Cardiff, Wales.
Local community members, Black Voluntary Sector Network Wales (BVSNW) and a partnership of local organisations and agencies are holding a FREE event to celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month 2009. It will take place on Tuesday 30 June from 10.00am until 3.00pm and ALL are welcome.
The event will feature:
- A youth talent show
- Music and performances
- Cultural exhibitions
- A Kids creativity corner
- Dukkering
- Refreshments
- Conversation and special guest speakers
- Cultural exchange
- Video films and much more ...
The aims are to:
- Give Gypsy and Travellers communities in Wales the opportunity to express and celebrate their culture.
- Consult with Gypsy and Traveller Communities and mainstream agencies to inform ideas and developments for a celebration event in 2010
- Raise awareness and positively promote their cultural practices and traditions amongst service providers and the general public
- The event will be opened by Councillor Judith Woodman - Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council and will also feature contributions by Jake Bowers

30,000 free copies of this year's GRTHM magazine which highlights all of the public GRTHM events were distributed this year. And, like last year, demand far outstripped those we were able to print. If you weren't able to get a copy of this year's magazine at you can still download a copy here from this website.
